Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might seem out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
